Boston, MA (May 20, 2019) — Following the successful passage of Public Law 115-275, authorizing the National EMS Memorial Foundation to establish the National EMS Memorial, the Foundation is moving forward to the Site Selection Study phase, which is the first technical step required to establish a permanent national memorial in Washington D.C. This Study will form the basis for the hearings before the relevant Federal and District of Columbia committees that will determine the best site for the National EMS Memorial.
The National EMS Memorial Foundation is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with AECOM for this phase of the project. AECOM is a world class design, architecture, engineering, and consulting firm providing services as a market leader in building and public spaces. AECOM provided technical services on some of the most prestigious memorials in Washington D.C. including the National World War I Memorial, National Desert Storm Memorial, American Veteran’s Disabled For Life Memorial, Eisenhower Memorial, Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Education Center, Air Force Memorial and the Martin Luther King Memorial.
“It has always been such an incredible privilege and responsibility to work on the National EMS Memorial project, a sentiment echoed by all of the members of our team.” said David Kamlan, Board Member and Director of Media Relations for the NEMSF. “Being able to add the most capable and prestigious firm in the area of national memorials to this team will ensure that those responsibilities are met. AECOM has the capabilities and proven track record that the National EMS Memorial requires in order to fully embody the Commitment, Service and Sacrifice of the nation’s Emergency Medical Services. Moving into the Site Selection study phase with such a strong team is yet another clear example of the Foundation’s ability to achieve significant milestones”.
James Orsino, Board Member and Vice President of the NEMSMF commented “There is no question in my mind that AECOM is the industry leader when it comes to consulting on memorials in D.C. But the thing that struck me the most was their wholehearted commitment to the project. From our very first conversation, they took great efforts to fully understand the EMS industry as a whole as well as the perspective of its individual constituents. And while the company is quite large, the folks that work there are truly able to bring their product down to a very personal level. I’m extremely confident that this partnership is going to produce the best results possible.”
The National Emergency Medical Services Memorial Foundation is a 501 c3 charitable organization. The sole purpose of this foundation is to establish a permanent EMS memorial in Washington DC or its environs to honor, recognize and remember the commitment, service and sacrifice of the Nation’s EMS heroes who have died in the line of duty and for those who continue this service commitment and sacrifice.
